Nature and the Night - Photography by Ryan Anderson

Ryan, a native Islander from birth, moved to Oshkosh, WI at a young age. Although no longer living here, he returns regularly with his family to visit and spend time on the island he still considers home.  Ryan is currently an art teacher in the Neenah Joint School District where he has been instilling his passion for the arts with his students for over 25 years.

The primary focus of Ryan's photography is on landscapes and the natural world, with emphasis on long exposure night photography. In recent years he has also added portrait work to his repertoire, shooting weddings, families and high school seniors.

Ryan draws much of his inspiration for his photography from the beauty surrounding him on Washington Island: the water, forests, farm fields, and the Milky Way arching overhead. The thrill of seeing the Northern Lights dance in the night sky keeps him up way past bedtime far too often, but to him - every second is worth it!

He has been able to take his knowledge of art and composition, a keen eye for details, and love of the outdoors and merge them all into stunning photos for all to enjoy. He shares his images in hopes that others may discover for themselves the beauty he sees in the world around us everyday.
